Altamount Beer Works Mac Drizzle

From Altamont Beer Works in Livermore, California comes Mac Drizzle. This is a Dark Cascadian Ale ringing in it 9% ABV. The brewers named it in honor of slain local rapper, Mac Dre.

The beer falls into one of the less popular categories of craft beer, and that’s a good thing because our pint glasses run over with IPAs and stouts and lagers. One of the great things about craft beer (aside from the obvious fun of alcohol) is the numerous different variations of flavor.

The profile comes across a bit odd though. It starts light with citrus aromas, but finishes on the sweet side with the 9.2% ABV making it feel heavier. Not bad at all, but I think it’s capable of being a bit more focused one direction or the other. 3.5/5, a very good beer and definitely worth a taste. And as always, it’s great to see a unique beer from an up and coming brewer with a nod to regional culture. It’s what the craft beer experience is all about!

i, I'm Stephen. I'm an airline pilot and reformed beer drinker. Born and raised in southern California and lived the last half of my life in the SF Bay Area. I like sports cars with clutch pedals, airplanes, and both college and pro football. I spent most of my 20's drinking High Life and Rolling Rock, but was shamed into beer snobbery by the woman who would become my wife. Currently I enjoy travelling around the country and searching out the local beers. Cheers!
