Mother Earth Brewing Co. – Boo Koo IPA

Published On August 11, 2015 | By Stephen Rubke | Anything Beer, Beer Reviews

You can be excused for not knowing Mother Earth Brewing Co. because apparently they’ve existed primarily as a homebrew supply store, and only since 2010. But they do bottle and distribute beer. Boo Koo IPA is the first beer of theirs I’ve ever seen or tasted, and I’m always a sucker for a new beer.

Boo Koo strays from the other IPAs of the San Diego region (where Mother Earth is based) by coming across the palate as soft and subdued. This would never pass muster at hop-crazy Stone; but that’s perfectly okay. The finish is balanced, if lacking a certain distinction.
I score it 3.5/5. A very respectable effort and definitely worth a try. Some beer snobs may find it tame for San Diego IPA, but it has enough character to be worthy.

i, I'm Stephen. I'm an airline pilot and reformed beer drinker. Born and raised in southern California and lived the last half of my life in the SF Bay Area. I like sports cars with clutch pedals, airplanes, and both college and pro football. I spent most of my 20's drinking High Life and Rolling Rock, but was shamed into beer snobbery by the woman who would become my wife. Currently I enjoy travelling around the country and searching out the local beers. Cheers!
