Schubros Brewery Festbier

Schubros Brewery from San Ramon, California, is relatively young, but offers a respectable range of year-round and seasonal beers. They brew a good variety and manage to avoid anything that could simply be described as “lager”.

Festbier is a tribute to that famous Bavarian party that any good beer drinker should know. The style is marzen in that it’s German, dark, and malty. Nothing too complex, but that’s really the standard here.
It’s an enjoyable drink. Simple; but a cut above the ubiquitous German beers adhering to the now [seemingly] outdated purity laws. 3/5 stars. Solid, but not remarkable.

i, I'm Stephen. I'm an airline pilot and reformed beer drinker. Born and raised in southern California and lived the last half of my life in the SF Bay Area. I like sports cars with clutch pedals, airplanes, and both college and pro football. I spent most of my 20's drinking High Life and Rolling Rock, but was shamed into beer snobbery by the woman who would become my wife. Currently I enjoy travelling around the country and searching out the local beers. Cheers!
