Stone Enjoy By 02.14.15

Stone Brewing’s Enjoy By series has been an entertaining effort that produces excellent IPAs and enjoys utilizing well known dates like the 4th of July, Christmas, and April 20th… whatever day that is. But the idea is to produce an IPA that relies on being consumed relatively quickly, implying that it’s a precious and short-lived window for maximum taste.

The 2/14 batch (oh snap, I think I need to get flowers or something for my wife) is another high quality effort. I’m not 100% sure if the recipe remains the same between batches, but this one certainly repeats the successes of the past editions. The flavor is bold and hoppy, yet impressively balanced.
Although Pliny the Elder probably rules the kingdom of west coast IPAs, I’ve been suitably impressed with this Enjoy By series. And at least in the bay area, they’re more widely available. An easy 4/5 stars. But someone needs to try one after the label date and see if the quality really drops off.

i, I'm Stephen. I'm an airline pilot and reformed beer drinker. Born and raised in southern California and lived the last half of my life in the SF Bay Area. I like sports cars with clutch pedals, airplanes, and both college and pro football. I spent most of my 20's drinking High Life and Rolling Rock, but was shamed into beer snobbery by the woman who would become my wife. Currently I enjoy travelling around the country and searching out the local beers. Cheers!
